Fire Prevention

11/20/08 - Silver Spring Elementary - Winners of this year's fire prevention poster contest at Silver Spring Elementary received a special gift in the form of a ride to school in the fire truck instead of the bus. They were received by their peers with almost rock-star status as the students enthusiastically greeted the winners. Thanks to the staff and teachers for making this year's fire prevention program a real standout, and thanks to all the students who participated in the contest.

December 2007 - Silver Spring Fire participates in the still parade called LIGHTS ON FOR LIFE a program by the CV School students to raise awareness about highway fatalities and DUI. Good turnout this year.

November 2007 - Tiger Cub Troop 180 visits the station and talks with Chief 31.

October 2007 - In-house fire prevention for SCI-Camp Hill Halloween Party.

The Silver Spring Community Fire Company is very aggressive with fire prevention programs, and it has paid off. We have substantially lower fire losses than surrounding communities. We have programs geared towards virtually every age group. Our energetic program has touched the hearts of many Silver Spring residents. Fire Deputy Chief Dan Morton, or “Deputy Dan”, our company Fire Prevention Officer, has held enthusiastic demonstrations for children of all ages.

Fire prevention programs can be held for virtually any age, any group. We can gear our programs towards anyone from pre-schoolers to senior citizens. We have done Cub Scout groups, children’s birthday parties, elderly care facilities and back yard barbeques. If you have a group of any size or any age that desires a tour of the fire station, or a demonstration at your group or home, please contact us for information. You can e-mail Deputy Dan at chief131@silverspringfire.org for more information.
