12/18/09-Overturned
Tractor trailer, Silver Spring Road-Despite
a grand effort, the recovery company could
not contain this truckload of pallets as it
righted the damaged combo. With the top of
the trailer nearly ripped off, we could only
watch as the pallets spilled onto the
street. Extensive cleanup, mostly handled by
the towing crew, and fortunately minor
injuries. Why do those two Chiefs look so
happy?
12/10/09-Single
vehicle into a tree- I don't have much info
on this call, but it looked like a pretty
bad hit. You can judge the force of a crash
by the intrusion into the vehicle, and we
see here very substantial intrusion into the
engine compartment.
Unknown Date-Home
Depot truck fire-Silver Spring responded to
assist Hampden for a tractor trailer on fire
next to a structure. Arriving crews find a
fully involved tractor behind Home Depot,
and make short work of the inferno before it
compromises the building. Good knockdown for
the Company 30 guys!
Walnut Pointe
Halloween Parade-The Fire Department is
bestowed the honor of leading the Halloween
parade at the Walnut Pointe development
again this year. After leading the parade
through the development, we set up the now
famous smokehouse and drove home some good
fire safety training, let the kids try on
the gear and tour the engine. Thanks to all
the moms and dads who made us feel so
welcome! See you next year?
01/22/10-Confined
space egress training-Ingenuity comes to
training again as we piece together a small
obstacle course at the station, blind the
firemen and send them on their way with 40
pounds of everything hanging off them.
Teetering on "torture the blindfolded guy"
everyone did extremely well in this
exercise. The bystanders confuse and
disorient, excite and distract them, while
they attempt to take off their airpack and
squeeze through a tiny opening to safety.
Not easy. Good work on this life-saving
drill guys!
December 09-Santa
Comes to Station! Looks like someone was so
excited they had to take a little nap.
